Do you have administration skills and are looking for a flexible working opportunity?

We are looking for an Administration Assistant to join our team on a permanent contract for ten hours per week, with the opportunity for periodic extra hours.  

The purpose of the role is to support the Membership Manager and Communications Manager with the fulfilment and promotion of membership of grooms to the BGA and employers to the EEA.


The Details

This is a position working from home in any UK location.

There is flexibility as to when the work can be delivered when the Membership Manager is not on leave, with a preference that at least five hours are delivered either on one day or split over a couple of days, during office hours (09.30 – 13.00) to ensure alignment with the rest of the team and some hours are weekly delivered on one evening between 18.30 – 20.30.

When the Membership Manager is on leave, there is potential for overtime hours and during this time the role requires office hours (09.30 – 13.00) for at least 3 days of the working week. Plenty of notice will be given for these occurrences.

Salary - £22,126 per annum (pro rata as per hours required).

What the personal accident policy covers you for:

  • Whilst at work
  • All stable duties – mucking out, grooming, washing off, turning out
  • Clipping
  • Riding – including hacking and jumping
  • Hunting
  • Lunging
  • Breaking in
  • Holding horse for a vet and other procedures
  • Travelling horses both in the UK and abroad
  • Competing in line with your job including: jumping, dressage, eventing
  • Injuries that may happen to you whilst you are teaching - but you must also be grooming as part of your duties and not be a sole instructor

What the personal accident policy doesn’t cover you for:

  • Riding in a race, point to point or team chase
  • Stunt Riding
  • Accidents occurring whilst travelling to and from work
  • Riding and competing your own horse (but you can upgrade when applying for membership to include this)
  • Public Liability – this is a separate insurance policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
  • Care Custody and Control – this is a separate policy - the Freelance Groom Liability Insurance
